About ConnOTA 

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Connecticut Occupational Therapy Association (ConnOTA) is to support a professional community for its members. ConnOTA serves the interest of its members, represents the profession to the public, and advances the profession through legislative advocacy.  (Adapted from: American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. Vision Statement, Feb 11, 2004)

CONNOTA is made up of an Executive board and Special Interest Sections.

The executive board consists of voting and non-voting members.  The voting members include the president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary, and two members at large.  The non-voting members consist of a newsletter editor, the AOTA RA rep and alternate, the SIS chairperson and the SIS liasons.

Each board member term will be for two years with an additional 3 months of attending meetings as a consultant for the new board.

President:  Must be an active member of ConnOTA and AOTA, in good standing for at least 3 years.  Should have been active in ConnOTA for the 5 years prior to running. This position is the CEO of the  association.  The president represents ConnOTA to the public and to AOTA and presides over all official ConnOTA business.  The president attends the national ASAP meetings at national conference each year and works closely with the AOTA RA and alternate in regards to national affairs and issues.  The president, along with the board, identifies local issues and activities for ConnOTA to focus on for the year and presents an annual report to the association. The president also appoints SIS liasons and other committee chairpeople as outlined in ConnOTAs policies and procedures.  Lastly, the president attends all executive board meetings as a voting member and submits yearly reports to the president and historian.

Vice President:  Must be an active member in good standing for at least one year. The vice-president acts as president in the president's abscence.  This position is also the liason to the student OT organizations throughout the state and is the chairperson of the scholarship committee.  The vice-president is also the chairperson of the annual conference committee.  Lastly, the vice-president attends all executive board meetings as a voting member and submits yearly reports to the president and historian.

Treasurer: Must be an active member in good standing for at least one year. The treasurer maintains the annual budget and all financial records for ConnOTA.  The treasurer deposits all incoming resources and pays all bills as well as attends all executive board meetings as a voting member, and submits yearly reports to the president and historian.

Secretary: Must be an active member in good standing for at least one year. The secretary is the official communicator for the organization and maintains and updates the website.  The secretary attends all executive board meetings as a voting member, maintains meeting minutes and submits monthly minutes and yearly reports to the president and historian.

Members at large:  Must be an active member in good standing for at least one year.  This position coordinates and oversees membership drives, updates and maintains the membership list, provides the secretary with conference and course information to post for membership on the website, attends all executive board meetings as a voting member, and submits yearly reports to the president and historiam.
